In this role, you will be fostering a culture of experimentation and innovation within Ethos Lab, encouraging new ideas and creative thinking. As a key leadership role, the Lab Manager will manage a team of staff, mentors and volunteers in the execution of Open Studio, Ethos Lab’s core program, where teens are offered supervised access to Ethos Lab’s space, tools and resources, project-based learning and prepare for regional/international competitions.
The Lab Manager collaborates with team members and relevant stakeholders to identify new project opportunities and prioritize them based on strategic objectives and potential impact. The
Lab Manager will work closely with Ethọ́s Lab’s Program Manager, Learning and Experience and leadership team a to manage, execute, evaluate, and deliver education programming through engaging Science, Technology, Engineering, Applied Arts and Math (STEAM) based curriculums. The Lab Manager will play a pivotal role in contributing to Ethos Lab’s culture of innovation and experimentation by fostering a collaborative and Team Centered environment, sharing best practices, and driving continuous improvement whilst maintaining existing relationships, and building new relationships within Ethọ́s Lab’s community, including; youth, parents, adult allies and partner

About The Role
Key Responsibilities
- Co-Create strategic vision and plan for innovation in Ethos Lab Open Studio
- Set and deliver on programming goals in alignment with Ethọ́s Lab’s strategic vision and STEAM trends
- Maintain Ethos Lab’s network of volunteers and mentors willing to support Ethọ́s Lab, either through mentorship or content delivery
- Maintain line of sight on regional, provincial and national competitions
- Think of outside of the box youth projects, programs and opportunities
- Manage equipment and space resources required for the execution of projects, ensuring that they are well-maintained and utilized safely and efficiently.
- Curate innovative semi-structured projects for youth aged 12-18 in line with Ethọ́s’ quarterly themes with Ethọ́s Lab’s partnership organizations
- Train and supervise volunteer, paid instructors and mentors on programming updates and delivery
- Work with external partners and vendors to identify new technologies and tools that could benefit the Lab’s projects
- Liaise with Operations Manager and parents to provide programming updates
- Collaborate with stakeholders to track, analyze and report program participation, demographics and engagement
- Provide on-site supervision for Open Studio Programming
- Provide leadership and develop Ethos Lab’s Hackathons and youth challenges
- Develop and manage budgets associated with programming
The Successful Candidate:
- Must be a Canadian Citizen and authorized to work in Canada
- Degree in education, social sciences, STEAM related field or equivalent
- Demonstrated knowledge of educational theory and practice, particularly with relevant current trends
- Proven track record of developing and delivering projects on time and within budget
- Experience delivering and administering youth programs
- A strong understanding of industry and post secondary STEAM trends
- Experience developing participatory experiences for youth
- Knowledge of anti-racism, anti-oppression, equity, diversity and inclusion frameworks
- Ability to develop new ideas and creative projects
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence and motivate youth
- Highly motivated problem solver and can work independently
